As of January 20, 2026, Abdusattorov is performing at the top of the standings, showcasing outstanding chess in one of the world's most prestigious classical chess events.

The Tata Steel Chess tournament, which has a history dating back to 1938, brings together the world's elite grandmasters every January. This year's edition, featuring 14 of the strongest players in the world, started on January 11 and runs through February 1, 2026.

Abdusattorov, representing Uzbekistan, has impressed audiences with his sharp and precise play. After having finished 2nd in 2023, 3rd in both 2024 and 2025, the young Uzbek grandmaster is determined to claim his first title at this legendary tournament.
