On July 12-16 of this year, a memorial tournament was held in the building of the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan in the city of Tashkent, dedicated to the memory of the chess enthusiast, mentor-coach of many strong chess players, the late Alexander Grushevsky.
The competition was organized according to FIDE rules in the classical discipline according to the Swiss system, consisting of 9 rounds. International and FIDE sports masters and grandmasters from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan took part in it.
In a team of 10 participants, the following chess players showed the highest results;
1st place FM Orash Shonazarov (Kazakhstan)
2nd place CM Miraziz Matyakubov (Uzbekistan) - 5.5 points, +32 rating achievement
3rd place Biloliddin Obidov (Uzbekistan) - 5 points, +73 rating achievement
Young chess players from Uzbekistan also showed positive results:
-Madinabonu Khalilova: +16 rating;
-Sayyid Usman Shamsuddin: +79 rating.
The main goal of the competition was to commemorate A. Grushevsky's contribution to chess, encourage the younger generation, and enhance their international experience.
